From spoken word to the silver screen - Norio Nishimura’s multifaceted artistry shines.
Norio Nishimura kicked off his career as a teen DJ, outshining adults in high school battles and spinning at Showtime at the Apollo. He took his skills to college tours, mixing DJ gigs with spoken word performances. After a detour into advertising and founding several successful companies, Norio returned to his true calling—acting. He honed his craft for nearly a decade, and brought his dynamic energy to stand-up, theater, and screen.
A Puerto Rican and Japanese artist, Norio blends a DJ’s rhythm, a poet’s depth, and an entrepreneur’s drive. His acting debut came in 2014 as Jack in the short film Jack and Jill. Through the 2010s, he starred in shorts like Madrina, Inner Voice, Kristian Kardushian, Fix It, #Blackcoffeematters, Gatito, Hey Zeus, Unemployable, and Jenna Gets an Abortion. On the big screen, he appeared in Dear Dictator (2017) and Reminiscence (2021) alongside Hugh Jackman. On TV, he played Special Agent Tarkoff in five episodes of The CW’s Dynasty (2019) and appeared in Queens (2021) and Hulu’s Candy (2022).
Norio’s diverse talents include sketch and comedy writing, stand-up, graphic design, marketing, and sales. He’s also skilled in boxing, equestrian riding, kayaking, rock climbing, scuba diving, shooting (revolver, rifle, skeet/trap), snorkeling, snowboarding, surfing, and weight lifting.
Norio believes that exposure sets expectations and lives by the mantra: “Work hard. Have fun. Make history.” His multicultural background, relentless drive and rich experiences fuel his bold, lasting work in entertainment.
