In Her Element: Heather Young’s Journey Through the Arts

Heather Young is a dance studio owner, choreographer, performer, actress, and model who has spent most of her life doing what she loves—being involved in the arts.

Heather has loved being on stage from a very young age. Her family remembers her standing up in a shopping cart at just two years old and saying, “Hey everybody! Look at me!” From that point on, performing seemed to come naturally to her. She has always enjoyed connecting with people and expressing herself through dance, singing, acting, and modeling.

Dance has been Heather’s biggest passion since the age of three. She began teaching dance at age 14 and that passion turned into a career, eventually leading her to open her own dance studio. One of the most rewarding parts of her journey has been teaching and working with young dancers. She is proud to lead award-winning teams and recently received three choreography awards at Nationals.

Heather has trained in jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet, hip hop, acro, contemporary, and musical theater. She also enjoys singing and has experience in acting, improvisation, cold reading, modeling, commercials, and film.

Her work outside the dance world includes modeling, commercials, print work, fashion events, and acting. She appeared as an extra in The War with Grandpa and has been involved in projects for Dillard's, Belk, Carowinds, and Wilderness of the Smokies. She has also modeled at Charlotte Fashion Week and received recognition from Barbizon, including the Spirit Award and Rising Star Award.

Heather also has experience in pageants and performance representation and was listed as Miss Central Carolina 2025 through official Miss North Carolina Organization outlets.

One thing people quickly notice about Heather is her love for performing. She enjoys learning new routines, remembering lines and lyrics, and bringing energy to whatever she is working on. She also loves animals and has always had a natural way of connecting with them.

Today, Heather continues to build her career as a creative entrepreneur while running her dance studio, choreographing, performing, and exploring opportunities in modeling and acting. She loves creating, teaching, and inspiring others, and she is excited to see where her journey in the arts takes her next.
