AUDITION DAY - TIPS
A casting call is your opportunity to book a job. Be professional, be prepared.
This will allow you to be confident and do a great job at the audition. Talent are
all given a specific appointment time. There are only so many time slots available for the casting day. You must be sure you are the right type for the casting and always be on time if not a little early. The following is a check list to review before heading out to that audition.
1. KNOW YOUR TYPE
A casting breakdown has the talent description for each role, i.e.
character actor, model, high fashion model, lifestyle, real people, etc.
2. ROLE PORTRAYED
Business professional, doctor, bathing suit types, athletic or athletes,
upscale casual, dancers, and so on.
3. WARDROBE
What to wear to the audition? If it is a bathing suit audition, always wear a
bathing suit with cover up that could be also used in case they just want to
see in in casual attire. Business person, business shirt, jacket etc.
Know what you are going to portray and try to look the part. It will help the
client see you in that role.
TIP: Carry a few basic things in your car to go on auditions. You might be
asked to audition for a different role than you were sent on. Keep a bathing
suit, sundress, jacket, shorts, etc., so you will be prepared for anything.
4. DIALOG
Always check to see if you have any dialog. If so, rehearse before going to
the audition. If you have an accent, check with your agent to make sure
accent will be acceptable for the reading. Bring your own copy to the
casting with you to the audition.
5. BRING THE FOLLOWING
For actors – two headshots, copy of your online profile and resume
For models – two comp cards and your model books
Be prepared!! It will take the stress out of your audition experience!
Always remember to smile, be polite, friendly and enjoy yourself!!
